Rowdy Rathore is an upcoming Bollywood action film directed by Prabhu Deva and produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Ronnie Screwvala The film features Akshay Kumar in a double role opposite Sonakshi Sinha It began filming on 10 August 2011 and is scheduled for release on 15 June, 2012 Rowdy Rathore is the remake of Telugu film Vikramarkudu It will be the comeback of Akshay Kumar in the action genre
Akshay Kumar plays the role of a mastermind thief and a small time crook who is mistaken by a young girl as her father He then notices that her father is his lookalike IPS Officer Rathore who has recently been murdered Rowdy Rathore focuses on how the main lead gets revenge on the killers of his lookalike

Film actor Akshay Kumar was almost shot by a bullet while shooting an action sequence for the film A bullet grazed his right eye by just half an inch on 28 October 2011 at Filmistan studios in Goregaon The bullet that hit the actor was from the gun of one of the guards present on the sets.
